Get to know Ms. Lane
Hello Everyone,
Welcome to Hornet Country! This is my 6th year teaching at Monroe and I am proud to be a Hornet. I graduated from Miami University with a Bachelors degree in Health Education. After graduation, I went back to school and obtained my Intervention Specialist license through the University of Cincinnati. As if all that schooling wasn't enough, I decided to go back and get my masters degree. I recently completed the Masters of Arts in Teaching English program through the Ohio Writing Project at Miami University.
I teach a variety of classes at Monroe High School. This school year I will be teaching small group English, small group geometry, inclusion English, inclusion Geometry, and resource. You might ask how I teach all these different subjects. I took several courses during the summer of 2012 and obtained HQT status (Highly Qualified Teacher) in all subject areas (English, Math, Science and Social Studies). In addition to teaching, I am starting my 9th year coaching cheerleading. It's always fun to support our students inside and outside the classroom. Hopefully I will see you at some of the games throughout the year.
My teaching style is one of a kind. I enjoy a highly interactive classroom that incorporates discussion, hands on activities, and real world learning opportunities. My classroom is a place where students focus on learning. Daily supplies are always available and respect for others is required. I want my students to take responsiblity for their daily choices and be an advocate for their learning process. As the year progresses, our classroom transforms into a family that supports learning and individual growth. As a class, we work together to show respect, responsibility and leadership on a daily basis. I always strive for my classroom to be a place where everyone is excited to learn!
I am super excited to start a new school year and incorporate some of the new skills I have learned about this summer. I hope you enjoy our new website and find it helpful. If you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year please feel free to email or call. Make sure you schedule a time to stop during conferences so you can check out all that we have done!
